Don’t you love stepping into someone’s home that completely embodies their spirit and personality? And although it may not reflect the nook you’ve created for yourself, you enjoy every second immersing in their environment. That is how I feel every time I walk into this apartment.
My dear friend Rachel. She is no stranger to running the show for a global designer brand at Paris Fashion Week. Her industry resume runs the gamut from Marketing and Public Relations, to Production and Wholesale, to Strategic and Creative Direction and the list goes on and on. In short, this woman is multifaceted and mega-intuitive when it comes to the world of Designer Fashion. She is one of the best at what she does and her value is a rare commodity; competent, hardworking, and a game changer — she also happens to be one of the most loyal and loving souls. The apartment which she calls home (in between hopping back and forth to Paris and Milan for work, lucky her!) is your consummate real-life Manhattan apartment; exposed brick walls and pre-war architecture with a bright red fire escape hovering on top of the Lower Eastside’s energy.
But it’s the way the home is fashioned that makes it, IT. Her and I have both worked backstage at Fashion Week; the very familiar scene of collection pieces and accessories meticulously showcased and styled-out on rolling racks in particular order, just like in her space. At first glance this home seems minimal and straight-forward, but a trained eye knows it’s anything but ordinary. If you are anything like me, you’ll find yourself wanting to play dress-up in the couture, 1 of 1, and other fashion staples that adorn the apartment. Clearly I had no problem snapping a few of them and even trying them on; curated pieces structured in all the right places with the perfect amount of feminine sensibility and understated boldness, much like the home they reside in.
